lutherShepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church was chartered on November 2nd 2008.
After several years of discussion, study, and prayer, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Simi Valley and Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Santa Susanna decided to become one.

Our Saviour and Our Redeemer Lutheran Churches were both organized in what is now the City of Simi Valley in 1962.

Our Redeemer opened in March of 1962 with their first service conducted by Pastor Tom Cooper in the Chamberlain Warehouse on Los Angeles Ave. Later that year they purchased property on Bonita Drive below Mount McCoy, formerly the Dave Strathern property, and relocated there in November 1962. They remained at that location until 2007, when they began joining with their friends at Our Saviour.

Our Saviour opened in June of 1962, with their first service conducted at the Moose Hall Clubhouse by Pastor Fred Landdeck. In 1963, the church building on Cochran Street was completed and services have been held there ever since. Over the years, several buildings were added to the site of what is now the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. In 1970 a preschool began classes with Mrs. Sonja Miller as director.
